Finally a trend that doesn’t involve florals, pastels or brights— monochrome. Just think back to the Twiggy era for some inspiration and there you have it! Celebs have been going mad over this trend and recently so have the SS13 catwalks. (via Spring Summer 2013: Going Mad for Monochrome | Fashion Juices)

Designers such as Prada, Vivienne Westwood and Marc Jacobs sent Geisha galore down the catwalks as they prepared to reveal one of summer 2013’s key trends. Iconic kimono’s, thong flatforms and raw silk wrap jackets were noted as they glided majestically down the runway giving a graceful nod to the Orient of Asia. Let’s be honest, whether you’re a fan of Topshop or not, they certainly know how to reign in trends and expose every inch of its potential through their impeccable styling, and this outfit (left) has to be one of my favourites off the store website. The oversized jacket and mini-dress are such a subtle combination, but their simplicity excavates sophistication and effortless glamour with a statement clutch and accents of tan on the heels making the whole look appear classy with a modern twist. Inspired by the early 20th century Bauhaus movement, high street store Topshop are advocating clean lines, futuristic silhouettes and eclectic prints to the fashion forward shoppers who are ready to enter 2013 with a modernist sleek-chic wardrobe. Pixie Lott was one of the first celebs to jump in on this trend and wore a delicate pair of pearl ears on an Alice style headband. She lovingly named her fans ‘cats’, so these ears were a brilliant accessory to highlight her pretty blonde locks. This style of headband is great if you’re a little reluctant to make a huge statement and exact copies of Pixie’s pearl accessory can be found at ASOS for only £12, what a bargain! According to the World Global Style Network (WGSN) ‘Short ankle lengths are the key shape for boots’ for this S/S season! They were all over the catwalk with brands such as Balenciaga, Sonia Rykel and Just Cavalli featuring them in their shows. However, the brand that really showcased this trend was Balmain, with some stunning variations on this staple piece. (via Spring Summer 2012 Trend Alert! Ankle Boots)
