About thirteen years ago, (when I was a wonderful tantrum-prone five year old) I owned a little navy velvet skater dress. I wore it draped with my mum’s fake pearl necklaces and black patent dolly pumps on my tiny feet. Velvet is in fashion every winter season and so trying to escape the temptation of buying it has been at the epicentre of my Christmas shopping for the past decade. However, this year, I plucked up the courage to start scouring for the perfect velvet festive dress. That’s when I stumbled upon Missguided.co.uk and their beautiful array of short LVD’s with various necklines and even some with cut out waists to give the old timer a party season twist! According to the World Global Style Network (WGSN) ‘Short ankle lengths are the key shape for boots’ for this S/S season! They were all over the catwalk with brands such as Balenciaga, Sonia Rykel and Just Cavalli featuring them in their shows. However, the brand that really showcased this trend was Balmain, with some stunning variations on this staple piece. (via Spring Summer 2012 Trend Alert! Ankle Boots)

the ultimate bargain? Bershka’s £79.99 leather jacket in the sale for £59.99. A bomber style with long sleeves is the perfect style to sling over a summer dress when hit in the rain. (via Leather Jackets are the Summer Wardrobe’s must have)

Firstly, it’s unrealistic to think you can get one cheaply. You can always go for a pleather jacket, in particular this £52 version from Miss Selfridge, however faux leather simply won’t last as long or wear as well as a real leather jacket would. There is a reason there is so much vintage leather out there! (via Leather Jackets are the Summer Wardrobe’s must have)
